Welcome my name is John Stenke the Owner of Coral Stone of Florida LLC and a US ARMY Veteran Business Owner. This is a little background and history of my Story. In the early 90’s I obtained my State of Michigan Builders Lic and was working on Historical restoration. Most of these were of masonry construction. My services included brick replacement, Paint Removal, Cleaning, Sealing, and re-pointing of the mortar joints. I also started working in some residential construction from stick framing to Structural insulated panels and timber Frame.

In the fall of 1997 I closed down the business and relocation to south Florida. I took and job with Caribbean cast stone in West Palm Beach as a project manager. The jobs were Very High End residential on Palm Beach dong remodeling and Cast Stone as a project manager.

In 1999 Caribbean cast stone ran out of work for me so I moved to Ft Myers and was hired as the master mold maker for D & J of Naples. I built the company a large inventory custom mold for the projection. Then the company with sold to a new owner that I was not interested in working for. In 2000 I went to work for the Foam Depot as the General manage after being hired by the owner to fire his Vice President and secretary for embezzlement. This was a very scary situation. I also fired and the employee’s except 1 who was not part of what was going on. I call this cleaning the house of all bad people. I restructured the business and they started making money again. Their books were showing only around 32,000.00 each month just enough to keep the bills paid. The Vice President and secretary had opened another bank account at a different bank without the owner knowing it. They also had another accounting program called Peachtree. The owner had the business operating with Quick books. Within 2 months I had the business up and running and now bringing in over 6 figures each month. I developed a new product line for the Foam Depot called Rock Foam. After ramping up more production the Owner Klaus now wanted to develop him also a light weight cast stone. He had me so busy with everything I had no personal life. I said no and told him why. I have no time???? His statement was “for the amount of money I pay you I should own your ass and if that I what am asking you to do it then you should do it” At that time I handed him the key to his shop and walked out. I took two weeks and went fishing as I needed a break. My secretary begged me come back and talk to Klaus the owner. So I did and he offered me extra $400.00 a Week, He offered to buy me and brand new 4×4 truck with all the bells and whistle. Then he offered me 25% partnership in his business to keep me to stay. I was not interested.

I decided to go back into business for myself. This is when I open Coral Stone of Florida LLC in 2002. I started manufacturing Architectural Cast Stone and creating a texture that was similar for Natural Coral. I had been select by Michael Flaherty as his Cast Stone Manufacture for his custom waterfront homes in Ft Myers, FL. In 2004 I had a customer visit me from Tn. He was building a 15,000 Sf house and wanted it to look like the Hertz castle in Calf. I contracted the out of state job and produced 5 semi trucks loads of stone to be shipped to TN. Once the install started his build had more jobs for me. They talked me into opening another shop in TN while my son was running the Florida shop. In 2005 Florida was hit hard with the down fall in the economy and nothing was selling or being built. After suffering a lost of $50,000 with my Florida shop I closed the doors and moved all my equipment to TN. My son also moved to TN. I started to market my business across the US instead of just my local area. I started getting all for Coral Stone of Florida LLC but I only produced cast stone and those customers were wanting the real deal.

In 2008 I did a job for Mr. Adams in Trinidad for the exterior of his new custom home. Mr Adams and his architect came to visit my in my shop in TN and was very interested in my material and wanted me to give him a price for his project. I was not able to do the install due to it being in another country. In his package I offered on site training of his local contractor for 1 week. All expensive were paid as well as my labor. I had been getting emails from the Dominican Republic about my coral stone. So I my return home I flew to the Dominican Republic and was picked up at the airport and was taken to a coral stone quarry. I then met the owner and started to build a relationship with then. I explained I get call for the natural coral stone due to my name of the business. I had to turn those jobs away because I had no good source for the material at that time. So it was time to get smart and start offering Natural Coral Stone. It’s now been 15 years that I have been selling fresh cut natural coral and custom sizes. Since then I have been coral to Australia, Bahamas, Hawaii, Bermuda, Aruba, as well as the southern borders of the US like Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Louisiana, Texas, Arizona, California and even Kentucky. In the last 6 years my main focus had been on Natural Coral Stone and to also manufacturing Light Weight Cast Stone Range hoods and fireplaces. Working with Coral Stone you get custom work built to your spec and design to bring your dream to reality. As a veteran owned company to can always trust that you’re going to get the service you can count on and the best quality products available.
